King’s Wavertree offers a substantial enrichment programme before, during lunch and after school. Part of our extra-curricular timetable is our Wednesday afternoon enrichment where more than 20 clubs are offered over the course of the year, including Journalism, Spirituality, French, Go Karting, Chess, Art, Engineering, Sports teams, Eco Champsions, Military Minded, Classical Civilisation and much more.
Our unique Super Learning Afternoons take place once every term during Wednesday enrichment. This gives students the opportunity to further develop their character and leadership by taking part in activities linked to well-being, aspirational flight paths, personal development and cultural experiences. A variety of professionals visit the school to contribute and inspire our students. At the end of the year, Project Week provides students with the opportunity to take part in cultural visits to museums, theatres and universities.
All students at King’s will have the opportunity to apply for a place on the CCF in future years, which has a specialism in Sea Power provided by the Royal Navy. Every year, the cadet force expands with 24 new places, with all participants being able to enjoy regular naval opportunities at leading Royal Navy sites across the country.
The aim of the Combined Cadet Force is to provide a framework through which young people develop the qualities of team work, self-reliance, resourcefulness, leadership and responsibility. It also aims to engender a sense of public service and provides opportunities to take part in military training together with outdoor activities.
